Excellent event for ACWW with Valerie Stevens from Dorset as our speaker. Members from as far afield as Yeovil, N Curry, Puriton, Wincanton and local WIs arrived at 2.00pm to a hall decked with bunting, miniature Union Jack flags for each table. Several quizzes were available - one on the life of Queen Victoria and one well known songs. Display boards for ACWW and various leaflets were also displayed and a fact sheet was sold for 10p to help the Queen Victoria quiz. There was also a raffle and a bring & buy stall.
Valerie then enthusiastically spoke of her trips to Hungary, Belarus and recently her trip to New York to the UN with the ACWW UN committee. A cream tea, scone, jam, cream, a chocolate bite-size cake and a strawberry dipped in chocolate was then served with welcome cuppa. This was very well received and plenty of chatter ensued. The afternoon ended with quiz answers and two prizes were won , and the raffle was drawn. Members were thank for coming along and then Binegar WI teamwork took over yet again and the hall was cleared.
We made £361.20 for our ACWW Somerset Ugandan Project and this is now nearly completed - which will be Somerset's 8th project since 2005. Many thanks fpr the support from Binegar WI members.
