Pic 1. Ashaninka people waiting at the rivers edge to greet travellers.
Pic 2. one of the only ways in - by boat down the R. Ene.

This is a WI project working to promote awareness of the vulnerability of rainforests and their importance in the world and also combining with working to save an area of the Rainforest in Peru which is being sponsored by Taylors of Harrogate who in turn are working with the Rainforest Foundation UK. The people are called the Ashaninka, the older members speak Spanish (from the missionaries) and the young Arawak.
