After a lengthy journey (A303 shut at Mere) I took a taxi across to NFWI HQ. Arrived late to a stunned room as Joy told members that NFWI intended to abstain for Resolution 3. Reason: no mandate. Ros (Hampshire) intends to go home and write a Resolution ready for the next European conference to stop this happening again.
The rest of the resolutions were reasonable BUT another abstain for Res 6 (I think) by this time I was feeling brain dead. It's a very claustrophobic meeting room in the basement of the building. I think there must have been about 25 ladies there and it felt very full!! I must say NFWI lost its glamour yesterday - it's quite a pokey building.
We had a sandwich and fruit stick lunch (all very tasty) and then back for Margaret Cadzow to take us through Resolutions 1 & 2 - all OK. Then Margaret told us about the programme and facilities at the conference. I must say this was bittersweet for me - oh dear - it really hit home that I wasn't going. I will only get a % of my money back as it has been used already to run the conference!!
It was good to meet everyone again - thanks for the hug Gwendoline!! It was hard not to shed a tear - shall have to ask Therese to get me a cookbook, order a disc of photos and a conference bag of goodies if they are available!! Got home just after 9.30pm.
