This day was a combined WRW/Oxfam/ ACWW/individual projects AWARENESS day. 1. ACWW table. 2. Members browse the Strode College stall - where they were selling jewellery and material for their project in Gambia. This was one of the stalls invited for the day by SCFWI. Others included Jackie Gregory with her jam and information about her projects in Gambia, Roger Stoakley with his book, 'My Warriors and I' and pictures, John Halls and the Miles Tea stall, Sue Slade with 2 Fairtrade stalls and Christine Button brought her photo cards for Norton Down Church Charity. Other stall holders included Sali Money, Nichola Henson, Veronica Goodenough, Corinne Bickle, Sheena and Judy with the crochet and Sandy Lister with her beads. There was a feel good factor about the day - even the frugal lunch didn't deter the goodwill and we all learnt a lot about Mali, Kenya, Gambia and the other countries whose artefacts were displayed on the stalls. Thank you to the speakers, stallholders, helpers and everyone who attended and made this a 'different' day in Somerset. Special thanks to our visitors from Dorset (Valerie & George), Devon (Mary and friends) and Surrey (Gwendoline) for their support. Oh!! the beads from Africa were much admired and the cloth was the front table 'frontpiece' - so the journey to London to fetch them was very worthwhile. We had fairtrade roses from Kenya as well!!! They were in a teapot - because of the talk by our tea-man BUT I forgot to say (as you do) - so if anyone noticed - that was the reason (also it was just the right size! and I don't make tea in a pot anymore - because I drink coffee)!!
